Girlscouts Drawing Comics Class

This class will teach the basics of How to Draw Comics.

Included are tutorials that cover the basics of making a comic from start to finish, as well as, resources so you can learn more about the history of comics and the variety of genres available.

Topics covered:

1. Exploring Comics History
Including a brief description of my experience as a comic artist and professional cartoonist. I list of Documentaries and Youtube video sources that can be explored to understand the origins of comics in America and Japan.
I have also included I list of resources for books on how to draw and types of comics to explore and where you can find them.

2. Brain Storming a Story
We will look at writing very short story and coming up with ideas so we can write our first comic strip script that we can illustrate and add dialogue to.

3. Drawing Characters
A short tutorial on how to draw the figure and and begin moving it around to tell your story as well as simple templates and guides to help you with drawing your own character designs.

4. Making panels

We will look at the basics of making a 4 panel layout. Guides will be provided as well.

5. Adding Word Bubbles
We will cover how to add your word bubbles and writing in dialogue from your script.
